Ginkgoods — Ways of Existence

A quieter way to live
In a world shaped by speed and constant production,we find ourselves drawn to what is slower.
To objects that do not demand attention, but quietly become part of everyday life.

Many traditional crafts still exist today. But often, they are no longer lived with.

They are preserved, displayed, or collected — rarely used as part of daily life.

Something essential feels lost in this distance.
What if these crafts could return to everyday life?
Not as symbols. Not as decoration.
But as objects to be used — touched, worn, and lived with.

Ginkgoods was created from this question.

We reinterpret traditional craftsmanship
through a contemporary lens —

shaping objects that belong naturally
in modern routines and spaces.

Our work begins with people.

Over the years, we have traveled across different regions, seeking out artisans who continue to practice traditional crafts.

In workshops, villages, and small studios, we encounter techniques shaped over generations — not through speed, but through repetition, patience, and care.

These relationships form the foundation of Ginkgoods.

Rather than extraction, we value continuity. Rather than scale, we value mutual growth.

Through ongoing collaboration, we aim to create a structure where craftsmanship can be sustained — not only as cultural memory, but as a living source of livelihood.
Our approach is guided by a quieter aesthetic. One that values restraint over excess, balance over display, and presence over noise. This sensibility echoes what is often found in Song dynasty aesthetics — where objects were not made to impress, but to accompany life. We translate this philosophy into contemporary forms, allowing each piece to exist with ease within modern spaces and routines.
Each object carries more than its function.

Within it are traces of time, of hands that have repeated the same gesture for years, and of materials that reveal their character slowly.

From mother-of-pearl inlay to embroidery, these crafts are not static traditions, but evolving practices shaped through use and adaptation.

Our role is not to preserve them unchanged, but to participate in their continuation.

We believe objects shape the way we live.

Not through function alone, but through how they are used, kept, and lived with over time.
We believe culture does not remain fixed in place.
It moves, transforms, and finds new forms of expression.

As these crafts enter new contexts and new lives,
they begin to speak beyond their origins — not losing their identity,
but expanding it.

Over time, they may no longer be seen as something distant or historical,
but as a natural part of everyday life.

Quietly present. Gently used. Continuing forward.
